  • I’ve been working on cleaning up my studio for what feels like months now and I’m already enjoying working in the fresh space 💕

The way I had the shelves and tables configured made it hard to walk around to my sewing machines and get to materials, so I’ve been wanting to improve this for a while. I downsized one of my shelves and one of my work tables so there’s more room to move around in the space. It’s much better! ✨ I also needed another surface for my embroidery machine and the half-shelf worked out just fine since I don’t need to sit and actively sew at that machine 👍

My studio being a disorganized mess was such a reflection of how I’d been feeling recently. I wouldn’t want to spend time in my studio because it was messy, but not spending time in my studio was making me sad. 🫠
I’m so thankful for my partner for seeing me when I wasn’t doing well and encouraging me to be an artist❤️

Anyway, mental health matters, check on your friends, and make art.

  • Having so much fun with my embroidery machine and low-key like the appliqué I made even though I picked random designs and used whatever fabric/ thread colors. 💟
Onto designing my own patches now 😎

  • I think this mug is funny because it captures the essence of my time at The Pastel Palace very well (IYKYK), but sometimes it makes me cringe because embracing the overwork of design school is a significant part of my unhealthy relationship with work/rest.

I’ve been reflecting on why I seem to believe that I don’t deserve to rest. A lot of it has to do with being raised to believe that women are servants to men/families and just a general sense of low self-worth. (A great concept for some future work, but we’ll see).

So many thoughts and ideas have been begging to be worked out in my studio for months while my body/mind has been too exhausted to put in the time lately. Promising myself to create better boundaries and more art ❤️

Barley loves it so much that I had to give him his own pile so I could work uninterrupted 🙃

After I finished my MFA, my heart felt tired and heavy. I really needed a break from that body of work and realized that while I analyzed and spoke about quilts and family textiles a lot in my work, I had never made a “real” quilt. I decided to make this cat quilt as a fun, non-conceptual project to be a break, but also to participate in the traditions that my work comes from.

Each cat uses a different fabric, all scraps from clothing or my studio. The backing and binding are made from vintage sheets.

I’ve been working on this quilt off-and-on for over a year now and I’m so glad I was finally able to give it to my sister recently ❤️ quilts are family.

Sorry I mostly took pictures with the binding off. I promise my binding looks nice. 😅

I’ll be vending till 4pm today at @otrchamber’s #HollyJollyJamboree with new festive items and my annual “Greetings From Krampus!” shirts. 🎄😈

My last 2 events of the year are this weekend. While preparing, I have felt so grateful to be back in my home city. I moved around quite a bit in my 20s and have never felt so welcome and supported as I have in the OTR creative community. ❤️

I love this neighborhood. Thank you to everyone who contributes to the good vibes 💚

Happy Halloween from Mothman and a vault dweller ❤️🖤 we saw 5 or so other people dressed as mothman and I experienced the Halloween miracle of drinking Oberon after August 🧡

My costume is made entirely from dissected secondhand garments in a few layers (cowl/hood, cape, backless dress, base layers). Antennae are made from dollar tree floral picks and headband.

I made the vault suit from a pair of Aramark coveralls. Accessories are from Etsy, or are collectors stuff Aaron already had.

Appreciation post for that non-woven scrim fabric I squirreled away from when our couch was delivered. It’s been awesome for drafting quick patterns and turning out appliqués for Halloween costumes 👻

Barley loves it so much that I had to give him his own pile so I could work uninterrupted 🙃
